Perficient Just Demonstrated What Real AI Adoption Looks Like
Originally reported by Perficient
There's no shortage of companies announcing what AI could do for sales.
What's more interesting is seeing what happens when a company actually changes the way its sales organization works.
That's what caught my attention in a recent announcement from Perficient.
The technology consulting firm built an Agentic Front Office inside its own sales and marketing organization, using its own business as the proving ground before taking the solution to clients.
The reported results after 90 days: sales-cycle time dropped 20%, win rates increased 12%, and teams managed 14% more deal volume.
What This Means for Sales Leaders
The important part isn't the AI itself.
Perficient says it connected Salesforce, Slack and enterprise data to surface account intelligence, relevant content and recommended actions within the tools sellers already use. But the company also says it started by addressing the underlying sales process and complexity in its existing environment.
That's an important distinction.
AI wasn't simply layered on top of the existing sales process. The work itself was redesigned.
We've made a similar point in Why Salesforce Adoption Fails and How to Fix It: technology adoption isn't simply about teaching people where to click. The technology has to support how the sales organization actually works.
Perficient's experience also reinforces something we've discussed in Is Your Salesforce Ready for AI? Here's How to Tell.
AI needs reliable data, defined workflows and people who understand how to work with it. Perficient itself identifies connected systems, trustworthy data, workflow clarity and adoption/change readiness as foundations for reliable agentic execution.
The Bigger Point
Sales leaders shouldn't start with:
“Where can we add AI?”
A better question is:
“Where is our sales process creating unnecessary work—and what could AI change?”
That's the difference between adding another technology and actually changing how sales gets done.
