Mark Christie Founder & Principal Consultant

Mark Christie is the Founder and Principal Consultant of The Salesforce Trainers. A former sales leader with nearly two decades of Salesforce consulting and enablement experience, Mark specializes in helping B2B sales organizations improve Salesforce adoption, strengthen sales management, and align Process, Platform, and People. He holds an MBA and a degree in Statistics and Actuarial Mathematics, is a Salesforce Certified Sales Cloud Consultant and Salesforce Certified Administrator, and is a Prosci® Certified Change Management Practitioner. His unique combination of sales leadership, Salesforce expertise, and change management experience enables organizations to get the business value they expected from their Salesforce investment.

“In my experience, Salesforce adoption rises or falls with the sales manager. They're expected to coach opportunities, forecast accurately, run effective pipeline reviews, reinforce new behaviors, and lead change—yet most were promoted because they were great salespeople, not because anyone taught them how to lead. That's where we can make the biggest difference.”

02 — How we got here

The name stayed. The business evolved.

Back in 2006, after a career spent in sales and sales management, Mark Christie decided he wanted a change of pace. He'd sat through plenty of sales training courses over the years and always admired the person at the front of the room. That, he thought, is something I could do.

The big training firms disagreed. Résumés went out to Achieve Global, Franklin Covey, Impax and others — and came back to a resounding silence.

So he broadened the search, and found a two-person operation in Ottawa that wasn't hiring at all. Lorraine and Brian Jeffrey were looking to sell. Their business, founded in the early 1990s, was called SalesForce Training & Consulting, Inc. — named, quite literally, for what they did: they trained the sales force. Simple. Brilliant. And, as it turned out, remarkably well-timed.

Mark acquired the business — website and all — moved it to Toronto, and got to work. The brand and the material were second to none. (An admittedly biased opinion, though one shared by its very talented founders.)

Then something unexpected happened.

The phone began to ring with companies asking for help training their teams on Salesforce.com — a product we didn't train, and had never claimed to. Once in a while at first. Then monthly. Then several times a month. They'd found us by name, and asked anyway.

By 2009 it was impossible to ignore. Mark flew to San Francisco for his first Dreamforce to find out what all the fuss was about. What he discovered was that Salesforce wasn't just another software platform—it was becoming the foundation of modern sales organizations.

Over the next several years, the business evolved from a sales training company into a Salesforce consulting and enablement firm. What never changed was our belief that technology alone doesn't improve sales performance. Great sales organizations still depend on strong sales leadership, effective sales processes, and well-prepared people.

That's still the difference today. We're not technologists who picked up some sales knowledge along the way. We're sales leaders who became Salesforce experts—bringing nearly two decades of sales leadership experience to every engagement.

03 — What makes us different

We start with sales. Not Salesforce.

Most Salesforce partners begin by configuring the platform. We begin by understanding your sales organization. We define the sales process, develop your managers, prepare your people for change, and then configure Salesforce to reinforce the way your team sells.

Our consultants have led sales organizations, coached sales managers, implemented CRM systems, and managed organizational change. That combination is rare.

04 — How we work

Process first. Platform second. People throughout.

Poor Salesforce ROI is almost never a technology problem on its own. It comes from three interconnected gaps — and we close all three.

P1

Process

We define the methodology, stages, pipeline reviews, and forecasting your team runs on — then develop the managers who lead them.

P2

Platform

We audit configuration, automation, reporting, and data quality, then simplify. Simpler Salesforce platforms deliver greater adoption.

P3

People

We build lasting behavior change with the Prosci ADKAR methodology, so new ways of working actually stick.

Client results

Mark's clear and engaging presentation helped me better understand the platform's features, particularly how to effectively manage sales opportunities and track progress… I feel more confident using Salesforce to drive our team's success.

Mark's the man! He's the guy you want to bring in to train your Salesforce technical and business users. Very engaging, and presents lots of analogies that help learn abstract concepts.

Bill was extremely knowledgeable not only on the Salesforce side but also on Canon Medical's customized version of Salesforce modules. He did his homework very well. He kept the audience engaged throughout the session. Good work Bill!

Extremely clear presentation, easy to follow, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

This was by far one of the best, most relevant trainings that have been offered at NPD. I found a lot of value in this session because Mark lets trainees know that they're not crazy for thinking that Salesforce is NOT intuitive to use, and he starts off at the foundations.

Really enjoyed this training… I wish I could have gone through this during my new hire training!
